[Androidme2018]- In a very short period of time, two massively impressive smartphones from China have hit the mobility scene: the Oppo Find 7 and the OnePlus One. The parallels between these two devices and companies are astounding. It’s time for a first comparison between two of the best smartphones that exist right now.

The background story
It’s worth it to note first of all that the Chinese startup OnePlus rose from the Oppo organisation, meaning that personnel left the latter to create a new company. This now includes Oppo’s ex-Director of New Markets, Carl Pei, now Director of OnePlus Global as well as Pete Lau, Oppo ex-Vice President, now head honcho of OnePlus. CNET reported that OnePlus Ones are even going to have their own spot at Oppo’s product booths.
Design
It really comes to no surprise that the OnePlus One and the Find 7 (as well as the Find 7a) are super similar. The first one is made of plastic and users are able to switch the back side for many different pieces, one of which is made of carbon. The basic variant of the Find 7 is also made of plastic, but there is a premium model that is made of carbon. From the front, it’s quite hard to discern the One and Find 7, both follow an almost identical design language. Both use fixed, capacitive buttons and have left out a front logo. In terms of weight and dimensions, the One and Find 7 are almost the same as well.

Hardware
While both devices hardly differ in design, the hardware doesn’t. This is mainly due to the fact that the Find 7 comes in two different models. The Find 7 models have either a QHD or a 2K resolution. A clear difference is the removable battery and microSD slot for both Find 7 models, which the One doesn’t have. On the other hand, the One is significantly cheaper than both Oppo smartphones.

Software
We still know very little about the software running on either device. But it’s clear that OnePlus went for a custom version of CyanogenMod 11s, and Oppo choose Android with their own Color OS user interface. The One offers some interesting and smart features like an Always-on feature or the possibility to quickly start apps with certain gestures on a deactivated display, which is also a feature on the Oppo N1. In terms of software, there's no doubt that we will discover more on either device in the near future.

Verdict
It is still too early to make any final conclusions, but it’s already evident that on paper the premium version of the FInd 7 and the OnePlus One are right on par. Both parties have their own clear advantages. Users who consider the price of a device a deciding factor really don’t have a reason to turn to the Find 7. The One simply offers too much potent hardware and software for an unbeatable price. Each and every bargain hunter won’t be able to look past its out of this world price/performance ratio. Those who are ready to invest more money should take a closer look at the higher-end model of the Find 7, whose display resolution, removable battery and microSD slot make it a leader of the pack.
