And while Sony has already been a part of the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) for the Xperia Z, thus allowing users to install stock Android on their own, it seems like the Japanese company will still be moving towards releasing the phone to come pre-loaded with stock Android. One advantage would be users being able to have access to OTA firmware updates, something that users with Xperia Zs currently running AOSP aren't able to do.
There is still limited information in regards to a Google Edition Xperia Z, it will most likely be running Android 4.2 (...unless of course, by the time the handset is confirmed, Google gets around to confirming and releasing Android 4.3) and released through the Google Store as being US only at the beginning. All other specs, in regards to device hardware, are expected to be identical to current Xperia Zs on the market.
